This is sort of the latest. I am actually working on something else, but it is top secret. So pictures will follow after Christmas.
This little painting was done for a new friend I met while doing an art/craft fair up on campus. It is acrylic on paper on board. Ha, I think that only makes sense to me. I totally apologize for the poor image quality, stuff happens when you are in a hurry.
I debated on entering anything for the USU undergrad show, but last minute decided that I might as well...since I am a student once more. So, thanks to Tim for being the endless supplier of reference images, this tiny painting came about. It is only about 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches done mostly with acrylics.
More to come, but in the meantime I am trying to finish up everything for the H.O.P.E festival(come check it out!)...oh boy, so much to get done!
No, I haven't been cranking these projects out lickety-split...they have just been piling up waiting for their photo op.
Although, on this little horsey box, I did add the pen just the other night. Ooh, how I do love pen, but can't decide if this box is in need of something more. Ahh-well, I am sure I will figure it out!
More to come,
katie jo, the silly girl who paints horses...love them.
Well I decided I had to fit in at least one or two posts before the month is up...my excuse? Simply, that I need to photograph my work. So be prepared...this birthday week (because that is just what it is) will be filled with posts...if I can ever leave work at a decent hour. Oops, there is was again, another excuse...work.
My very talented friend had me take these of her adorable family. I am so glad you are pleased with them Alyssa. I had quite a fun time shooting them, so thank you.
new reference images are in order. This little ditty is on paper and about 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches. I used acrylics in a way my dear friend Alyssa would appreciate. The outcome, I'll let you decide. Although, I have to say, I very much enjoyed painting this way.
Who knows, I think I may do a little series of acrylic street paintings on paper?
Much happy spring love to you. Yes, there may have been snow on the ground this lovely morning, but amongst the snow were tulips and blossoms (that is why it was lovely). So yes, happy flowery springy May to you. Springy? Yes, springy, and not like the motion.
So this little baby isn't so sure about her new friend. But I am sure they will warm up soon.
I apologize for the delay, this month has been quite the busy one. I still have more monkey pictures and hopefully some boxes. So as always, more to follow!
Oh and Jen, as promised, your other pictures will be done shortly!
In effort to better my skills at drawing the figure, I finally forced myself to one of the figure sessions up on campus. I actually enjoyed myself quite a lot despite past figure classes I have had, but it only further proved that I need to go more often to better my hand. Perhaps one of these nights I will pack my paints up there as well.
I'm just not a figure drawing kind of gal, but perhaps I can be, so keep your eye out for my progress as I attend more sessions!
Hi there! I am an artist and an art teacher! I am very fond of painting horses and lately my focus has been more on small villages, towns and cities. I currently teach the best students at Mount Logan Middle School. It is an adventure everyday and I learn so much from their creative minds. If any of my students or parents need to reach me, email me at katie.heiner@loganschools.org
